| What
it is
Three Chairs is
an interactive coaching methodology using interpersonal communication
as a medium to facilitate personal and professional growth.
It is applied in workshops with small groups and in one-on-one coaching
in fields such as: leadership, executive coaching, communication
and emotional intelligence development.
What
it does
Three Chairs develops
the ability to hold opposing relationship biases together in a state
of creative tension.
Being generative
in nature this state supports the development of a range of emotional
intelligence attributes.

What it Contends
1. Situations
that arise in relationships can hold great potential for learning.
2. Exploring
these situations from alternate perspectives creates opportunities
for transformative learning: i.e. learning that is embodied, experiential
and applicable to the everyday.
3. Moving
from fixed singular mental modes into multiple perspectives enhances
capacity in emotional intelligence attributes including problem
solving, empathy, conflict resolution, reality testing and intra
and inter-personal awareness.
The
ability to hold together opposing
views is a sign of great intelligence
